Through May 1st – Tribeca Film Festival 2011. The Festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Craig Hatkoff and Jane Rosenthal in response to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, which heavily impacted the TriBeCa area of Manhattan.

May 2nd – 5th, 2011 – Digital Hollywood. The premier entertainment and technology conference in the country is moving to a new and amazing location, The Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey, California. Get ready for tents, yachts and the most elegant hotel on the West Side.


May 5th – 8th, 2011 – BmoreArt – Maryland Film Festival. Maryland Film Festival is an annual four-day event that takes place the first weekend of each May, presenting top-notch film and video work from all over the world. Each year the festival screens approximately 50 feature films and 75 short films of all varieties — narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, and hybrid — to tens of thousands of audience members.

May 6th, 2011 – Corazon De Vida 2nd Annual Red Carpet Fundraiser. A night of performances, delicious food, music, fashion show, dancing, and an amazing silent auction. The Corazon de Vida Foundation supports orphanages in Baja Mexico by raising contributions and volunteer work to benefit and empower the orphan and homeless children of Baja.

May 11th – 22nd, 2011 – The 64th Festival de Cannes. Robert De Niro will be President of the Jury. The Festival de Cannes has always remained faithful to its founding purpose: to draw attention to and raise the profile of films with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level.



May 12th, 2011 – SAGIndie hosts a series of monthly workshops to assist filmmakers in using the SAG Low Budget Agreements, simplifying the process and helping filmmakers cast quality actors in their independent films. May 13th – 15th , 2011 – For the 11th year the Chicago Anarchist Film Festival will present a sample of films culled from mainstream sources, rediscovered classics and the works of filmmakers engaged in providing entertainment, documenting social change, and projecting a world that could be. Chicago Anarchist Film Festival organizers seek un- and under-distributed films and videos to include in the May 2011 Chicago Anarchist Film Festival.

May 14th & 15th, 2011 AUCTION: – John Lennon’s handwritten lyrics for “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band to be auctioned off by Profiles in History, run by Joe Maddalena, on May 14 & 15 at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, CA. John Lennon’s draft of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” contains the opening lyrics to the song that was first inspired by his son Julian’s nursery school drawing that he called by the same name (contrary to the belief that the title had a hidden reference to the drug LSD). Along with the lyrics are designs for the album cover and some “rocking horse people,” and it is estimated to sell for $200,000 to $300,000.
