Oct 7 – 20: 46th Chicago International Film Festival. Coming out of a dark theater, everything seems brighter. Film illuminates the world. It opens our eyes. For 45 years, the Chicago International Film Festival has been committed to taking you all around the globe to discover some of the most exciting cinema the world has to offer!


October 8th – 9th: Vimeo Awards are set for October 9th in New York. The video-sharing site is accepting submissions for its Vimeo Awards. Videos that have been viewed online in the past two years will be judged in nine categories. The creator of the best online video will receive a $25,000 grant.


October 15th-20th: DC Labor FilmFest. Organized and presented by the Metropolitan Washington Council of the AFL-CIO, the Debs-Jones-Douglass Institute and the American Film Institute, the 2010 DC Labor FilmFest boasts an array of new films and beloved classics about work and workers, from the American office to the far-flung factories of the global economy. October 16th-November 3rd: Noir City DC: The 2010 Film Noir Festival. This edition of Noir City DC features a cavalcade of noir stars, including Robert Mitchum, Sterling Hayden, and Burt Lancaster, and femmes fatales Rhonda Fleming, Marie Windsor and Kim Novak.


A fundraising event for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and other AIDS service organizations across LA County the AIDS Walk begins at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood with over 25,000 people walking 6.2 miles to raise money for this very important cause. Founded by four friends in 1982, APLA is a community-based, volunteer-supported organization with local, national and global reach. Visit for more information.

Oct 24th: bowling for boobies, an official event of busted foundation.
Bowling for Boobies® is a fundraising event to help provide financial assistance to local women
who are experiencing financial challenges as the result of fighting and living with breast cancer.

Oct 28th-November 5th: Cinema International Rome Film festival. The Rome Film Festival will pay tribute to Ugo Tognazzi on the 20th anniversary of his death.

The heart of West Hollywood, Santa Monica Boulevard, once again will pulse with excitement on Halloween night as hundreds of thousands of Halloween revelers flock to the famous boulevard for the notorious West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval on Oct. 31. Admission is free and the event starts at 6 PM and runs until midnight.
