December 2nd-12th – The 21st Annual Washington Jewish Film Festival. An 11-day celebration of the incredible diversity of Jewish life, culture and history through innovative film and invigorating programs. For more info go to


December 3rd – The International Documentary Association Awards. Join IDA to celebrate outstanding achievements in documentary filmmaking.


December 3rd-16th – Anchorage International Film Festival. Celebrating ten years, AIFF kicks off with a screening of a Canadian film called The Wild Hunt. The story of a brother who gets re-immersed in a live-action role-playing medieval fantasy world when trying to win back his estranged girlfriend. Sounds like a film worth freezing for.


December 4th – The European Film Academy in Tallinn, Estonia. On the occasion of the European Capital of Culture year Tallinn 2011, the 23rd European Film Awards will take place in the Estonian capital on the Baltic coast.


December 6th – Variety Home Entertainment Hall of Fame. The 30th Anniversary Gala, Dinner and Awards, which will benefit Entertainment Aids Alliance at Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.


December 9th – Chris Rock will MC the City of Hope’s 4th Annual Music and Entertainment Industry Roast at the Lincoln Center in New York. Chris Rock will roast Stephen Hill BET networks president of music programming and specials.


December 13th – African American Film Critics Awards. The nation’s premiere film critic’s group dedicated to providing a safe-haven of support and respect for African-American film journalists and the black filmmaking community.


December 13th – The National Society of Film Critics announces its winners.


December 13th – Nomination Ballots for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are due at the Elections Firm by 5 p.m. PT. Did you know you could nominate yourself? Well, there is still time, so get out there and break a leg. The Awards was honored with the Environmental Media Association’s “Green Seal” Award for the Second Consecutive Year.


December 13th – Nominees for the 2010 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, bestowed annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association to honor the finest in cinematic achievement, will be announced. Winners will revealed at the 16th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Hollywood Palladium. The ceremony will broadcast live on VH1 Television Network.


December 14th – Nominations announced for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Awards, also known as the Golden Globes.


December 15th – Nominations are announced for the 42nd NAACP or National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, also known as the Image Awards.


December 16th – Nominations are announced for the 17th Screen Actors Guild Awards.


December 27th – Nominations are announced for the Online Film Critics Society. The Online Film Critics Society is the largest, most respected organization for critics whose work appears primarily on the Internet.
