The Seattle International Film Festival continues through June 14th. SIFF, as the festival is known, is the largest film festival in the US. Who would have thought? This year SIFF will present 268 features and 124 shorts from 62 countries over 25 days, with 31 World Premieres, 45 North American Premieres, and 13 US Premieres. Wow!

June 2-7: Hollywood Black Film Festival 2009 is celebrating its 10th Anniversary, in Beverly Hills, CA The Festival includes spectacular Star-Studded Opening and Closing Night Galas and the screening of more than 100 films

June 2–7: Connecticut Film Festival in Downtown Danbury Connecticut for 6 days and nights of film, music, interactive & Screenwriting, 140 films, 70 bands, 100 workshops, panels & keynotes and lots of parties. So, maybe Connecticut is the place to be in June!

June 3-8: 24th ISRAEL FILM FESTIVAL in Los Angeles. celebrates Israel and Israeli cinema with the largest showcase of Israeli film in the United States. The Festival kicks off an Opening Night Gala at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and will continue its run at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills and Laemmle Fallbrook 7 in the San Fernando Valley.

June 3-7: the 12th Annual Newport International Film Festival 2009, in Newport, Rhode Island.

June 11th: AFI, which is the American Film Institute, selected Michael Douglas to receive the 37th AFI Life Achievement Award, which will be present to Mr. Douglas at a gala tribute in Los Angeles.

June 12-14, 17 & 18:

June 15-22: the Silver Docs AFI Discovery Channel Documentary Film Festival. Go to for the film schedule

June 17-21: Maui Film Festival at Wailea and Maui Arts & Cultural Center. This is an annual festival in Maui and it’s held outdoors like in drive-in movie style, but without the cars.

June 18-28: Los Angeles Film Festival Held annually in June in Westwood Village, California, the Los Angeles Film Festival showcases the best of American and international cinema over the course of ten days. Drawing a diverse audience of more than 80,000 people, more than 100 feature films are screened at the Festival.

June 23-27: GEN ART CHICAGO FILM FESTIVAL So, if you’re in the Chicago area, check it out.

June 24-27: The 13th annual American Black Film Festival takes place in Miami, Florida.

And, remember, if you run out of things to do in Los Angeles, you can always check out the film screenings at MoMa, that’s the Museum of Modern Art, at the Skirball, and at the Getty, all of which have unique June calendars. / /
