April 1-7: The Gen Art Film Festival, New York City. The Gen Art Film Festival presented by Acura brings a full week of film premieres, parties, and the people who love them: from the directors and stars to film industry and New York’s taste-making audience.

April 3rd – 23rd: 10th Havana Film Festival New York – The Havana Film Festival New York will take place in various locations throughout New York City. This year’s selection appeals to different age groups, fostering an appreciation of Latin American culture. Please go to website for specifics and schedule:

Monday, April 6th: SCREEN ACTORS GUILD HOLLYWOOD DIVISIION, open to SAG members in good standing. 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. (Light meal will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m.) In the James Cagney Boardroom, 5757 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles. All members who would like to attend must be in good standing, affiliated with the Guild’s Hollywood Division and willing to comply with observation procedures. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. RSVP required.

April 15th: deadline for entries for The Hollywood Reporter 38th annual Key Art Awards. The Kay Art Awards is the only international competition honoring the individuals responsible for the design and creation of motion. The Key Art Awards show, itself, is scheduled for June 12th.

April 17-19: Weekend Of Horrors (“WOH”) Los Angeles 2009

April 17-18: the Canadian Film Center (“CFC”) will honor its founder, Norman Jewison, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

April 18-23rd: the National Association of Broadcasters will meet at the Los Vegas Convention Center. On April 20th, this NAB Show is scheduled to honor Mary Tyler Moore.

April 20-25: the 6th annual Tribeca All Access (“TAA”) in New York, helps foster filmmaker voices from communities not typically represented in showbiz. TAA, a year round program of the Tribeca Film Institute, will present 27 new projects during the event.

April 21-26: Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA)
IFFLA showcases films from or about India made by Indian and international filmmakers. The mission of the festival is to promote a greater appreciation of Indian culture and cinema. ArcLight Cinemas, 6360 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood and other venues around LA

April 23 – May 7: 58th San Francisco International Film Festival

April 23-30: The Newport Beach Film Festival
Over 350 international independent and studio film screenings, actor showcases, music and arts events, fashion shows, red carpet events and galas. Newport Beach, California

April 24th: the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences: the deadline to submit online entry form for the 61st primetime Emmy Awards Interactive Television Competition. The video submission deadline is May 12th, 2009.

Monday, April 26: 7th Annual TV Land Awards
8:00pm-10:30pm ET/PT
And, to deliver the most viewers possible and build excitement leading up to the awards show, at 2pm, TV Land will kick off the fun with a 6-hour marathon of perennial favorite The Andy Griffith Show.

April 30: The Television Academy Honors, Beverly Hills Hotel. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences created the Television Academy Honors in 2008 to recognize “Television with a Conscience” — achievements in programming that present issues of concern to our society in a compelling, emotional and insightful way.
