Through 1 March 2016 – The Rain Room at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. LACMA is no stranger to popular, headline-grabbing exhibitions, but the Miracle Mile museum is entering a new territory of “Mona Lisa”-like mania with the arrival of “Rain Room.” The wet wonder from art collective Random International is quite literally a massive room filled with water raining from the ceiling—the twist being you stay dry while the room downpours around you. Through 20th March – Founded in 1997, the New York International Children’s Film Festival is based on the belief that movies with disturbing and controversial topics are not beyond kids’ interest and understanding. 1st-2nd March – Internet World. Internet World, the E-Commerce trade show, takes place annually at Munich’s Trade Fair Centre. Internet World is purely a B2B-trade fair. 2nd-6th March – Launched in March 2012, the Sun Valley Film Festival features a week-long celebration of filmmaking by showing about 60 films from a variety of genres, from film student works and documentaries to children movies, web series, music videos, and narrative features. 3rd-6th March – The annual True/False Film Festival, which has been held in the lively college town of Columbia, Missouri for the last 13 years, stopped being just a local event years ago. While the festival does not limit itself to any particular topic, nor does it advocates for or against any of the film’s subject matter, it does attempt to challenge viewers to think carefully and critically about the film content and to question their own assumptions. 3rd-6th March – The Boulder International Film Festival is considered to be one of the most innovative and influential film festivals in the US. Founded in 2004 by Boulder, Colorado filmmakers and sisters Kathy and Robin Beeck to celebrate “the bold spirit of independent filmmaking,” the festival is a filmmakers’ festival that focuses on great storytelling regardless of the budget spent on making a movie. 3rd-13th March – Rendez-Vous with French Cinema. America’s pre-eminent film presentation organization, the Film Society of Lincoln Center was founded in 1969 to celebrate American and international cinema, to recognize and support new filmmakers, and to enhance awareness, accessibility and understanding of the art among a broad and diverse film going audience. 11-19th March – SXSW Film Festival. The SXSW Film Festival celebrates raw innovation and emerging talent both behind and in front of the camera. Featuring provocative documentaries, comedies, genre standouts and more, the festival has become known for the high caliber and diversity of films presented, and for its smart, enthusiastic audiences. 15th-20th March – The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival is a six-day annual event that showcases classic and contemporary films in a number of venues such as the city’s classic Art Deco Fremont Theatre and the independent Palm Theatre. The festival celebrates variety in the movies it shows, which include everything from topics documentaries on current topics to old and much loved cinema classics. 17th-20th March – The Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival is as much a community event as it is a film festival. It screens independent and lesser-known documentaries, narratives, and short films on subjects that resonate with its audiences, including the environment, family dynamics, politics, subcultures, the arts, alternative lifestyles, and special individuals that have made a difference in society. 28th March – The CW Series A meeting of characters from television series set in the DC Universe (both produced by Warner Bros. Television), but air on different networks, will take place, as Grant Gustin, who appears as Barry Allen / Flash on The CW series The Flash, will appear in the Supergirl episode, “Worlds Finest,” the latter airing on CBS, marking the first time that a character from The CW series has crossed over to a CBS series as CBS and Warner Bros. are co-owners of The CW.
