Hi everybody, We are Iliyana Apostolova and Jessika Apostolova of the Actors Reporter and welcome to the TradeVine. Our goal at the TradeVine is to help you stay informed and to keep up with some of the entertainment news you may have missed in the Trades, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Backstage.

Back Stage, February 14th – 5 Steps To Becoming An Oscar-Worthy Actor, by Gwyn Gilliss. How do you get from where you are NOW to on the red carpet to on the stage winning? As an actor-entrepreneur being nominated or winning an award is a signpost for others to hire you. As your career develops, you need to think about establishing your brand to the world. Here are five action steps. 1. Develop Relationships. Connect with and build your network of industry folks and the jobs will keep coming. 2. Re-Invent Yourself Constantly. Keep updating your tools, headshot, demo reel, and website. And don’t stop developing, changing, evolving, or re-creating your image. 3. Hire a Top Professional To Advise You. Talent is not enough. Connection is the key. 4. Have Good Judgment. Accept roles that really suit you and will give you opportunity to develop and be seen in the right kind of character. 5. Have fun! Remember the reason you became an actor. Then winning an award will be the frosting on the cake.

Hollywood Reporter, February 18th – Staples Center Goes Vegetarian for Morrissey, by The THR Staff. Morrissey’s upcoming concert at Los Angeles’ Staples Center will mark the first time the venue goes all-vegetarian. A request previously denied to Paul McCartney. All vendors at the March 1 show were mandated to ban “flesh as food” by the singer, a longtime animal activist and vegetarian, who also urged the venue to close down its McDonald’s outlet. Staples Center agreed. Staples Center also will donate a portion of ticket-sales proceeds to PETA.

Daily Variety, February 18th – Pinterest teams with ‘Biggest Loser,’ by AJ Marechal. Pinterest, the pinboard-inspired picture sharing site, has teamed with NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” to promote the competish program and healthier lifestyle choices. Partnership includes Peacock-created instructional content that will appear on Pinterest and complement each week’s episode. Viewers will be directed to “Biggest Loser’s” Pinterest page during broadcasts, where they can discover recipes, lifestyle tips and exercises from show trainer Dolvett Quince and chef Devin Alexander. Pinterest has established itself as a social media go-to for web users looking for bite-sized health info. Many Pinterest users repin photos of motivational quotes, recipes and fitness how-tos, so “Biggest Loser” integration organically falls into Pinterest’s already favored and inspirational content.
