One of the most recognized actors in the world, Eric Braeden is arguably also the most popular actor in daytime drama series playing ruthless business man Victor Newman for over 32 years on the #1 rated daytime series The Young And The Restless.
Recipient of a Star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame (July 20th, 2007), Eric Braeden became the first German actor since Marlene Dietrich to receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Braeden starred and executive produced the western The Man Who Came Back, also starring Billy Zane, Armand Assante, Sean Young, Carol Alt, George Kennedy, Peter Jason, James Patrick Stuart, Jennifer O’Dell and former heavyweight fighter Ken Norton. The feature film was directed by Glen Pitre and was released (Lionsgate 2008) on DVD and became the #1 DVD rental for non theatrical films straight to DVD and the #10 overall DVD to purchase upon its release.
Over the last 50 years, Eric Braeden has starred in more than 120 movies and TV with stars including Marlon Brando, Bette Davis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Geraldine Page, Burt Reynolds, Dennis Hopper, James Earl Jones, Curt Jurgens, Raquel Welch, Tyne Daly, James Arness, Mary Tyler Moore, Jack Lord and many others.
Some of Eric Braeden’s roles include his portrayed John Jacob Astor in the most successful feature in film history “The Titanic,” Dr. Charles Forbin in the classic sci-fi series Colossus: The Forbin Project, and as Captain Hauptmann Dietrich in the 1960’s classic series “The Rat Patrol, ”
Always the athlete, n 1958, Eric Braeden won the German Youth Team Championship in Discus, Javelin and Shot Put. In 1972-73, he won the US National Soccer Championship for The Los Angeles Maccabees. And, in 1989, Braeden was chosen as the only actor on the newly formed German American Advisory Board. The illustrious group has included Dr. Henry Kissinger, Katherine Graham, Alexander Haig, Steffi Graff and Paul Volcher.
Eric Braeden has received numerous awards for his works. In 1995, Eric Braeden received the highest honor from Italian Television in Italy from Prime Minister Berlusconi. In 1996, Eric Braeden was honored at the 38th Monte Carlo Television festival. In 1998, he received the “The People Choice Award” as “Favorite Actor In A Daytime Drama Series.” He has been nominated 7 Emmy Awards in the Best Actor category and in 1998 received the coveted award for “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Daytime Drama Series.” In 2004, he received The Humanitarian Award from the government of Israel and has visited with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Former Prime Minister Shimon Peres in Israel. He twice received the Federal Medal of Honor by the President of Germany for his contribution to German Americans relations. In 2007, Braeden received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the national organization the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters Association in Los Angeles.
An avid student of history, in 2004, Braeden joined Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of Israel at The Annual Tourism Conference in Israel. In 2005, Braeden joined Prime Minister Ariel Sharon Of Israel, Elie Wiesel, the Prime Ministers of Poland and Hungary at Auschwitz for “The March Of The Living” along with 20,000 Christians and Jews from all corners of the world. Friday, May 12, 2007 Braeden was the recipient of the 2007 Ellis Island Federal Medal Of Honor Award.
In September 2008, The City of Hamburg and the Senate of Germany honored Eric Braeden (who has been the recipient of The Medal Of Honor twice by The Federal Republic Of Germany,
Trivia: Eric Braeden has appeared on over 120 Soap magazine covers, more than double the amount of any actor in daytime history.
