Through September 2nd – Now in its 37th year, Telluride Film Festival has established a sort of North American cinephile frenzy. Announcing its lineup barely 24hrs before its launch each year, the festival launches some of the year’s competing box office mainstream films (in 2010 Venice opener Black Swan, Danny Boyle’s 127hrs and Stephen Frears’ cringeworthy Tamara Drew). Though maybe not the best places for film buyers, the festival is an important publicity generating exercise for both EU and US based distributors, and has been described as one of the funnest festivals in America. September 18-22 – The BB Jazz Festival. The OIAF is pleased to announce it will pay tribute to the late Dutch animator, Gerrit van Dijk. Founder of the HAFF, Haarlem-based filmmaker van Dijk passed away on December 4th, 2012 at  the age of 73. van Dijk leaves behind an impressive body of work.
