Hi everybody, I’m Breonna Walker of the Actors Reporter and welcome to the TradeVine. Our goal at the TradeVine is to help you stay informed and to keep up with some of the entertainment news you may have missed in the Trades, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Backstage.

Back Stage, July 23rd – Casting Director Yesi Ramirez’s Audition Advice, by Daniel Lehman. CD Yesi Ramirez has cast feature films including “Love and Other Drugs,” “The Descendants,” “21 Jump Street,” and many more during her 10-year career. Here are Ramirez’s audition do’s and don’ts: 1. Remember that when you walk into a casting office, you’re auditioning from the moment you walk in. 2. If the casting director gives you directions you don’t understand, ask them to clarify or to tell you in a different way. 3. Keep working on your craft. As soon as you stop, you become stagnant. And 4. Never be overly aggressive or get in the casting directors face if things don’t go your way. Remember your parameters when you’re in the room. You’re on camera, first of all, so if you’re that close to a casting director, you’re not going to be on camera anymore.

Daily Variety, July 23rd – Dizzy Feet hosts National Dance Day in L.A., by Cynthia Littleton. The sights and sounds of thundering hoofers will inaugurate L.A.’s newest green space on Saturday as the Dizzy Feet Foundation hosts its National Dance Day festivities in conjunction with the opening of downtown’s Grand Park. Producer Nigel Lythgoe says their goal is to get people on their feet, as much for health reasons as for artistic reasons. So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy will be on hand to offer free ballroom dance lessons, and Debbie Allen will be there with members of her dance academy, along with numerous many other notables. Sounds like a great way to celebrate.

The Hollywood Reporter, July 23rd – Sicily’s Economic Crisis Claims Four Film Festivals, by Eric J. Lyman. Italy’s economic crisis has hit the southern island region of Sicily hard, forcing the closure or delay of at least four regional film festivals months after pushing the Taormina Film Festival, one of Europe’s oldest, to the brink of extinction. Saddled with a bloated public sector, high rates of tax evasion, dried up credit, and epic unemployment levels, the Sicilian economy has been locked into a slow economic growth track for years. The issue took on a European perspective when fears emerged that Italy’s southernmost region could be forced to default on its debt. That news sparked a selloff in already jittery financial markets, not only in Italy but across Europe.

Well, that’s it for the TradeVine this week. I’m Breonna Walker. Thank you very much for watching. And remember, You heard it through the Tradevine!
