Hello everybody, I’m Mary Jo Gruber of the Actors Reporter and welcome to the TradeVine. We have found some interesting articles that you shouldn’t miss. Our goal here at the TradeVine is to help you stay informed and to keep up with the trades, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Backstage.

Back Stage, September 15th – 21st – In the Advice section, “The unshakable skill set,” by Tom Todoroff. To achieve success, it’s important to train continually and embrace life’s duality of certainty and uncertainty. We all have two equal and opposite needs in life, for certainty and uncertainty. The former dictates that you must be professional in your preparation and punctuality, while the latter insists that you be unlike hundreds of other actors who have already been seen for this role. Success requires that you acknowledge and embrace this duality. This is also true of every relationship you will ever know. We all yearn for the other to be reliable and trustworthy yet exciting and unpredictable. Never boring. Our relationship with ourselves follows this same blueprint.

USA Network’s, “Necessary Roughness,” was picked up for a second season for sixteen episodes. “Necessary Roughness” has been scoring touchdowns all summer long for USA as a breakout hit. The freshman series has averaged 5.85 million total viewers. Actors Reporter host, Joe Sabatino, is one of the two supervising producers on that show, which is based on Joe’s sister’s life as a psychotherapist. Congratulations Joe and Donna.

Daily Variety, Monday, September 19th – Congratulations Jon Cryer on receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jon Cryer, of course, is known for “Two and a half Men.” The article is entitled “The man who survived the ‘winning’ year,” by Jenny Peters. Jon Cryer weathers the Charlie Sheen firestorm with renewed energy for the freshly rebooted “Two and a half Men,” which begins its Fall season with Sheen gone and Ashton Kutcher in. Good luck “Two and a half Men.”
