Welcome to the TradeVine where each week we share some of the entertainment articles you may have missed. Our goal is to help you stay informed and to keep up with the trades, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Backstage

The Hollywood Reporter, International Weekend edition, June 25th-27th, 2010. In the Clips section, “Song Men.” Tony Bennett, Paul Anka and Michael Feinstein will be featured in cameo roles in the upcoming documentary “The Outrageous Sophie Tucker,” to be directed by William Gazecki. The doc will use executive producers Susan and Lloyd Ecker’s research and Grammy-nominated liner notes for Tucker’s early recordings. On an interesting side note, our Actors Reporter producer, Pepper Jay, was best friends with her grandmother when she was a little girl. Who was her grandmother? Lida Ardell, the very best friend of Sophie Tucker, otherwise known as the “The Last of the Red Hot Mamas.” Pepper Jay spent her childhood in the Coconut Grove, Moulin Rouge, and in Las Vegas, where Lida would accompany Sophie to her many concert performances. Small world.

Also in The Hollywood Reporter, “American Idol, Dick Clark made daytime TV rock,” by Stacey Wilson. Before he was synonymous with New Year’s Eve, Dick Clark was the reason kids rushed home after school and did the Twist in their living rooms. Do you remember the Twist? On the occasion of his Daytime Emmys tribute for “American Bandstand,” Dick Clark shared reflections on his career, his 40-year friendship with Michael Jackson and his brush with nudity on live TV.

The Daily Variety, Monday, June 28th, 2010. “An Edgier ‘Eclipse,’” by Peter Debruge. It goes without saying that the faithful will devour “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” the third movie in Stephenie Meyer’s immensely popular supernatural love-triangle saga, and also the one in which Bella must finally choose between her two beastly suitors. The pleasant surprise this time around is that the result finally feels more like the blockbuster this top-earning franchise deserves. And don’t miss our exclusive interview with Michael Welch of the Twilight series, Michael plays Bella’s human friend Mike Newton. The interview can be found in the Interviews section at www.ActorsReporter.com
