We’ve compiled some of the more interesting articles that you might have missed this week. Our goal here at the TradeVine is to help you stay informed and to keep up with the trades, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Backstage.

Hollywood Reporter, December 8th, “Just how busy is Betty White?” by Leslie Bruce. In this interesting article, we get a 30-day look at the sudden new life of an 88-year-old’s legendary career. The last time Betty White was this hot was 1985, when she appeared as the dimwitted but lovable Rose Nylund on NBC’s The Golden Girls. Now, 25 years later, the veteran of more than 63 years in showbiz is among Hollywood’s most in-demand talents. Some of Ms. White’s activities include photographing for her own celebrity calendar, supporting a Guide Dogs for the Blind event, appearing on the cover of Parade magazine, and receiving the Charlie Chaplin Comedian Award. Good going Betty White. What a way to continue a fabulous career.

Congratulations to Gwyneth Paltrow for getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In Monday, December 13th, Daily Variety, there are several articles about Ms. Paltrow’s career, particularly the one entitled “Strong roles for a hometown girl,” by Tatiana Siegel. Many think that Ms. Paltrow is the closest thing we have to royalty. Well, I don’t know about that, but here at Actors Reporter we are definitely big fans.

In the Kudos section of The Daily Variety, Tuesday, December 14th, we learn that the Social Network continues to rack up awards as the African-American Film Critics Association honored the pic with both the best feature film prize and the top spot on its list of best films of 2010. In acting categories, Halle Berry won the award for actress for her turn in “Frankie and Alice” while Mark Wahlberg nabbed actor for “The Fighter.”

Daily Variety, Thursday, December 16th, What’s happening in music you ask? The article is entitled “Chart’s wrapped up. Boyle’s “Gift” keeps on giving at No. 1,” by Christopher Morris. With nothing even close to a challenger in sight, Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” sat tight at the top of the U.S. album chart last week. The Scottish vocalist’s Christmas collection sold 243,000 copies the week ending last Sunday. Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” held steady at No. 2, and the Glee cast’s album called “The Music Christmas” rose to the No. 3 position. And, Michael Jackson’s posthumous popularity will be put to the test shortly, as the album, which will be called “Michael,” the collection of unreleased tracks, reaches stores this week.

Well, that’s it for the TradeVine this week. I’m Brett Walkow. Thank you very much for watching. And remember, You heard it through the Tradevine!
