Hi everyone! Danika Quinn is on assignment and John Michael Ferrari, Senior Creative Producer of the Actors Podcast Network brings you this week’s TradeVine. January 16th, 2009

Each week here, at the TradeVine, we look through the trades, like Daily Variety, Hollywood Reporter, and Backstage, and highlight some of the articles that you, our TradeVine audience, might find interesting.

In the Daily Variety, Jan 12th edition, Variety provides a special section called “Players,” written by Byron Perry. Players highlights 5 happening actors and the list includes … drumroll … our very own Actors Podcast Host, Marta McGonagle. Yeah!!!
Daily Variety reports:
“ Marta McGonagle will guest star on “CSI New York”. She recurred last season on “Weeds” and her credits include “Reno 911”
Go Marta!!!

In the January 12th edition of the Hollywood Reporter, there’s an article by Gregg Kilday called “His train keeps rollin’ DeMille Honoree Spielberg looks back forward”
The store is about Steven Spielberg who accepted the Hollywood Foreign Press Associations Cecil B. DeMille Award last Sunday. During his speech, Mr. Spielberg honored Mr. DeMille, particularly the train wreak in his 1952 circus epic, “The Greatest Show on Earth.”
We thought that was important … to remember those who came before us who lead the way.
And, in the same light Mr. Spielberg said:
“None of the movies I’ve made throughout my whole life would have been possible … without somebody first believing in me.”
Thank you Gregg Kilday for the story.

The Daily Variety, January 15th article by Rick Kissell, entitled, “Idol back with a bang” reports that Idol drew more than 30 million viewers but was down 15% in the 18 – 49 category from last year. That’s a lot of viewers.

And, on a side note, keep a look out for contestant, Allison Iraheta, who auditioned for Idol in San Francisco. Pepper Jay and John Ferrari have been Allison’s performance coaches since Allison just turned 12. Allison couldn’t wait to turn 16 to be eligible for American Idol. Break a leg Allison! Look for more of Idol next Tuesday and Wednesday on Fox, 8/7c

Well, that’s our TradeVine show for this week.

If you want more information about any of the articles highlighted, go to our Actors Resource Links section and look up the trade where the article appeared. We encourage everyone in the industry to learn from the trades; all of which we can find online.

You heard it through the TradeVine.
